Keltic Rose Photography was founded in 2006, concentrating on people photography. In the first few years this was mainly weddings, dance photography and outdoor portraits, but in recent years I have developed a “mobile” studio which I can set up in church halls, dance studios or other large areas. In fact I often have defined studio days where I advertise a date at a venue. These are always loads of fun, so do let me know if you think I should come to an area near you for friends and family photos. Over the last five years, I have undertaken a number of training courses specializing in newborn photography. Many photographers believe they can do this sort of photography without training but from a safety point of view I would urge parents to only use trained specialists. Newborn photography is usually carried out when the baby is less than 14 days old, and involves two or three hours of working with the little one to get fantastic “never to be repeated” photos.
My Approach to Wedding Photography
My aim is to capture beautiful classical images that reflect reality. I love to capture natural candid moments, real emotions and reactions in an unobtrusive way. I love capturing the tears, the laughter, the expressions and the details of the wedding. The moments and people that you will remember for ever along with the things that you maybe missed in all the excitement of the day. The photos of yourselves and your friends that are captured on your wedding day are pivotal in recording your history. They say that every picture tells a story so all you have to decide is how long you want the story to be.

Carlisle Newborn Baby Photography
Newborn photo sessions take place in my newborn studio in Denton Holme, Carlisle and sessions can last 2 to 3 hours. The studio is kept warm so that your baby relaxes and hopefully goes off to sleep. Many parents book us for newborn photoshoots just after the first scan, this way we can pencil in a date and know roughly when baby is due for their photoshoot. Newborn babies change so much in the first few weeks so the ideal time for a newborn photoshoot is before baby is 21 days old. Sessions last up to 3 hour and to achieve the poses we use a very warm studio and loads of patience.

I belong to three professional photography societies, The SWPP (Society for wedding and portrait photographers), The Guild of photographers and finally the International Association of Newborn Photographers. These societies all have standards and codes of practice that members need to endear too. One of the main standards is that their members must be insured and so I’m pleased to say that I hold £1 million public liability insurance which I hope I never need but gives you peace of mind.

We had a newborn photo shoot with Allan when our little boy was 8 days old. After sleeping practically all day every day since the day he was born I was convinced we would have no trouble getting him off to sleep. I was wrong. The little monkey point blank refused to go to sleep no matter what Allan, me, or his Dad tried to do. I can not fault Allan’s patience with the whole thing. 2 and a half hours he spent trying to get him to sleep which still proved unsuccessful in the end but he captured some absolutely stunning awake shots in the process. We are over the moon with our photos. Allan 100% made the best of the situation and we have some gorgeous memories we can treasure forever. Apologies for our stubborn child Allan thank you so much! We will definitely be back for a family shoot sometime soon, hopefully with a more co-operative baby
